As a parent, you have to choose your battles. One I always chose was the battle of the bed. I was always ready to endure the whining and rolling eyes for this one. In the beginning, I did it because it made their rooms look a lot better when I walked by their doors. But, then I saw a speech by US Navy Admiral, William H. McRaven and from then on it was to remind them of the importance of doing the little things.
